In my opinion, having hooded lids can really suck the joy out of eye makeup.

) For the record, I have hooded lids, which means a little fold of skin sometimes covers the crease of my eyelids - think Gisele Bündchen, Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively (three women I look nothing like except for this eyelid thing). (They've been available in Europe for a while, but now they're available stateside at Barneys. There are plenty out there that provide natural-looking enlargement without risking saggy eyelids.Also, enter me, who got super excited when I first saw these things. If you want your eyes to look bigger I recommend checking out cosmetic lenses. My eyelids now are pretty much the same size I was born with before I started wearing tape/glue. I stopped using them since and my eyelids are still kinda saggy. I had double eyelids naturally but wanted that huge dolly look that was big back in the day.
It got to the point where the glue and double-lid tape would only work for like 5 minutes then resort to my natural fold, but at the same time, I had (well, i didn't have to, but i was insecure in the past about it) to wear them because my eyelids became really hooded and my eyes looked even smaller than ever without them. I noticed the more I wore them, the saggier and more resistant my eyelids became. I wore a mixture of double-sided tape, glue, and single-sided tape. The reason why i decided to try it was because it worked for a lot of people. They did cause sagging for me, but it's different for everyone.
I woke up one day with a triple eyelid on one eye years and years ago and it never went back to its original state!!! Based on trying both single sided and double sided, I do think double sided would cause more pulling and stretching than single sided ever would ! Since when your eyes are closed, the double sided would still be pulling on the top fold while single sided wouldn't! Personally, my experience is with double sided eyelid tape and to transform my triple eyelid back to double eyelid. I think for single sided double eye lid tape, there is lesser chance of your eye lid sagging than double sided or eyelid glue! Just make sure to use proper removal techniques (i.e cotton bud/pad soaked in water/makeup remover and going over the sticker to loosen it up) instd of just ripping it off your eyelid when removing! I have seen, read and known irl people who trained their eyelids with single sided tape to get the double eyelid effect!!Ĭould it be a placebo effect that you think your hood is bigger? Or maybe your eyelid is sensitive to the adhesive on the tape and hence a bit of a swell? Perhaps you can take a week off and assess if there's any difference via taking a picture of your eyes before and after !
